How to manually convert BAILINE.DAT
BAILINE.DAT is NOT a freely restorable backup file.
This file is the main client register. You can use
this file for a restore of a COMPLETE client register, however the
file would need to be converted to a more flexible format before
you can extract individual clients from it.
To convert a BAILINE.DAT file to a restorable client
file send the file to tech@bailine.com or you can convert the file
yourself:
*** Do not attempt the following unless you know how to copy and
rename files ***
(If in doubt you should do a regular backup of the client register
before continuing.)
* Make sure Bailine program is not running.
* Rename or copy the file C:\BAILINE\BAILINE.DAT,
e.g. to BAILINE.ORG
* Copy the other BAILINE.DAT file (the one you want
to convert) into C:\BAILINE
* Start the Bailine program, the program should automatically
reindex the register.
(You can also manually reindex the register through the menu Register
+ Special
+ Verify & Repair + Repair Register)
* Verify that the client register has been replaced
through the menu Register + Clients.
* Create a fully restorable backup file through the
menu Register + Special + Backup clients
(You need to have a newer version of the Bailine BSP
program installed as this menu
s not implemented in older versions)
Remember the address of the backup file, usually C:\BAILINE\BAILINE.BAK
* Exit the program, delete the temporary BAILINE.DAT
file and rename BAILINE.ORG
back to BAILINE.DAT
* Restart the Bailine program, again the program should
automatically reindex the register.
* Verify that the client register has been restored
through the menu Register + Clients.
Now you can restore individual clients from the file
BAILINE.BAK through the menu
Register + Special + Restore clients.
