SMARTDRIVE

Smartdrive is included with MSDOS 7.10 and most versions of DOS.

Running under DOS installing smartdrive will speed up parts of the program about fifty times as the program depends heavily on hard disk accesses.

Not using this program will cause the computer to spend hours instead of minutes creating reports and statistics.

Another advantage is that the hard disk gets less wear and tear when the program is running.

Smartdrive is started from the DOS-prompt, by typing:

SMARTDRV   [Enter]

On some installations you may instead type

C:\WINDOWS\SMARTDRV   [Enter]

If you DONT get an error message as you hit [Enter] then smartdrive is running.

If neither of the above work the smartdrv program is not installed or incorrectly installed. In that case we recommend upgrading to MS-DOS 7.10.

If you run the program under Windows then you have no use for the smartdrive program.
